Mercedes SAGA garage pits La Roche sur Yon
Realisation of two maintenance pits for the new Mercedes SAGA VI workshop in La Roche sur Yon (85)
For their new workshop in La Roche Sur Yon, which is located on the site of the former garage that had become too dilapidated, we supplied and installed two 20-metre maintenance pits for our client. Mercedes SAGA.

It's in the living room Equipauto In 2017, we met with the head of the real estate department at Mercedes SAGA. Our solution fully equipped steel garage pit, custom-designed, with a high level of finish and delivered turn-key, convinced our contact.
Following an initial meeting at their La Roche-sur-Yon site and in the presence of the workshop manager, we drew up the manufacturing plans for the two pits in line with the client's expectations and the Recommendations from INRS to offer future users a fully functional and secure work tool.
The two pits are identical and located side-by-side in bays 2 and 3 of the new workshop. Both are equipped with large 2m recesses allowing mechanics to store their equipment and manage oil and grease deliveries via reels.
For its drains, the client has chosen to use its angle iron (a 200mm UPE) to integrate a Pneumatic recovery bin at the edge of the pit.
The lifting of its vehicles is carried out with a Ram of the pit bottom which is stored at the back of a stair, the first step of which is retractable, thus avoiding obstructing the passage when the pit jack is not in use.
For this very lovely, fully tiled workshop, and to align with the image of Mercedes and the rest of the garage's equipment, we have created Pit covers made entirely of black lacquered aluminium slats, and we painted the pit edge UPE black for a very aesthetic result!
Each pit is equipped with two 10-metre aluminium covers with two independent motors. This allows mechanics to work on one half of the pit and secure the other part. We have also added a pedestrian walkway which allows mechanics to cross the pit safely when both covers are open.
Chronology of the installation of the two prefabricated steel garage pits
Day 1: Delivery and unloading of pits
The two pits arrived in an exceptional convoy on Monday morning around 8:30 am. We took some beautiful photos of this entrance, which is always spectacular.
Day 2: Positioning of workshop pits and installation of beams
The following morning we positioned the first pit very quickly as it was in line with the door. Positioning the second was a bit more perilous as it was out of alignment with very little room for manoeuvre. We finally managed to fit this second pit in the early afternoon, giving us time to fix our installation beams in preparation for the concrete's arrival on Wednesday morning.
Day 3: Pouring of the concrete and sealing of the two pits
We poured the base of both pits simultaneously from 8:00 AM. By starting early, this allows us to save time as we can then carry out the second phase of the pour, to erect the walls, that very afternoon. During the drying time between pouring the base and erecting the walls, we have time to complete all the conduit connections for: pit base ventilation, compressed air supplies, electricity, and for new and used oils.
Day 4: End of works
It's Thursday; the two pits are in place, the concrete is dry, and the services are ready. All that remains is for us to remove the suspension beams, prepare for the return of our installation equipment, and clean the site before we leave. We therefore installed these two 20-metre pits in under 4 days.

We thank our contacts at Mercedes SAGA and the companies present on the construction site for enabling us to carry out this installation under the best possible conditions. Thank you again for our discussions and your trust. Didier and Mathieu
