TRATEL Double Pit Cover Installation

Garage pit security

TRATEL, a pioneering company in the bulk and powdered goods transport sector., whose registered office is located in GUERVILLE (78), has chosen the company XPERTIVE to assist them in the prevention of fall-from-height risks related to the use of garage pits.

On the road, you can easily identify the company TRATEL, their yellow semi-trailers and lorries are easily recognisable.

At their BUSSAC FORET site in the south of Charente Maritime, We carried out a bespoke study for TRATEL to adapt to their existing pits.

Their 2 pits at the Tratel Bussac workshop measure 16 m and are not equipped with sufficiently significant rails along the pit edge for «standard» installation. This is a real constraint in our professions, as it is impossible to weld our running rails over the pit.

So we proposed a solution made up of 6mm thick chequered plates laid on the floor, onto which our guides are welded.

Thanks to our integrated metalworking shop We can create all types of steel structures and profiles, allowing us to adapt to each specific client request. This freedom enables us, in every instance, to find lasting solutions that fully satisfy our clients.

It is our patented model, manufactured in our workshops in Neuville Sur Saône, that the client ultimately selected.

This is the 25T/m2 aluminium version, pneumatically powered, compliant with Recommendations R468 & R469 and to

the Directive 2006/42/EC offering the following benefits:

Limit residual risks of falling from height.
The most resistant pit protection on the market
Allows crossing over the pit with workshop equipment, such as tool trolleys, mobile columns, pallet trucks, without having to go around it.
Anti-wobble, extremely stable even when partially closed. It allows mechanics to work on the pit, at the front or rear of the truck, safely.
Installation of the pit cover at slab level. No difference in altitude between the pit cover and the workshop slab.
Anti-pinch and anti-crush.
Very quiet unlike other models

Despite the technicality of the installation, it only took three days of work to our two installers to carry out

the complete turnkey service, comprising:

Lay chequered plate around the edge of the pit
Adding guides under diamond plates by plug welds
Engine installation
Setting up of covers
Connection to the existing compressed air network in the workshop
Painting, finishing, testing and user training.
