Ditch cover conforming to French Standard
The French Standard provides that all devices designed to prevent the risks of falls from the same level into a pit must have passed a resistance test. The pit protection system must be able to withstand an impact of 1200 joules, which is equivalent to a 50 kg bag dropped from a height of 2.40 m. All our pit cover models have been tested to the standard by an independent body.
Sump cover compatible with all concrete sump profiles
Our model allows to s’INSTto go on all types of traditional concrete pits without exception. Our integrated design office can offer you a tailor-made project and our metal fabrication workshop will produce the corresponding parts. Our teams can also assist you with replacing your pit-edge equipment (drainage tank or jack) with in-pit solutions.
CE conformity: Anti-trap
The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC (cf. Page 25 (from the machine directive) requires that it be impossible for a user to insert their finger between a fixed element (pit edge rail) and a moving element (pit cover) in order to avoid any risk of cuts or crushing.
It is for this reason that the company XPERTIVE installs all its aluminium covers with a maximum gap between rails of 5mm.
On each pit we work on, we re-establish the parallelism of the existing rails by installing our guides at the exact measurement using spacing jigs..
CE Conformity: Anti-crush
The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, (cf. page 63 The machine directive also provides for the mandatory fitting of a sensitive edge or safety bumper to a closing system, which will stop the cover if it collides with a person or tool.
Please note: This obligation is only valid if the cover is implemented automatically. «Automatic» is understood as the complete opening and closing with a simple press of a button (e.g. sectional workshop door).
XPERTIVE has chosen to offer, as standard on all its models, the opening and closing of its pit guards by a long press of a button.
This solution is much more secure than remote control operation, which allows the user to walk away from the pit without ensuring that others are not put in danger.
The solution using a button to activate a pneumatic system is much more reliable as it contains no electronic parts, no transmitter/receiver, or other components incompatible with maintenance professions and underground working conditions.
However, to meet our clients' specific requirements, we can offer to equip our standard solution with safety edges or sensitive bumpers.
