Colas Quimper creates a new pit span
Integration of a fully equipped steel car pit into their existing workshop
It was by visiting our website that Christophe, the workshop manager at the Colas agency in Quimper, discovered our solution for prefabricated steel garage pit. After an initial telephone contact to understand their expectations and needs, we sent them a tailored offer with a turnkey solution that met all their requirements: design, manufacturing, and installation of a fully equipped workshop pit and its motorised aluminium cover, with management of the’Arrival of new oils in a ditch, the Collection / Removal and Storage of Used Oils, one Pit lifting solution allowing all of his vehicles and construction equipment to be lifted, as well as pit ventilation, to be in perfect compliance with current safety standards. A complete proposal that meets his expectations in terms of working comfort and productivity.
A workshop renovation project, carried out smoothly!
Early October 2018, first contact. 3rd week of January, pit operational! Workshop downtime less than 10 days. Christophe just needed to define his requirements for us, approve our installation plan, and carry out the excavation in accordance with the plan we drew up for him.
As always, we ask that the excavation be carried out as late as possible to avoid any risk of collapse. Ales Quimper So it dug its span on Friday 4 January as our intervention began on Tuesday 08 January.
Arrival, unloading and positioning of the steel garage pit
Tuesday morning the tank is delivered at 8 am and, two hours later, lowered into the excavation. Positioning the tank was greatly facilitated by the use of a wheeled excavator, which meant we didn't need to use our usual heavy goods vehicle axle.
Installation of the tank and its equipment
In addition to the fully equipped steel tank, we also supplied and installed:

one Oil recovery tank, pit bottom with a pneumatic pump kit allowing the mechanic to empty his catcher into a double-skinned 1500l HDPE storage tank.

The pit is also equipped with’a 2m niche where we have positioned the 3 winders (Gearbox, axle, and grease oils) and where can the customer store their oil collection tray to leave the pit clear for perfect working comfort.
Pit depth and raising platform
The type of vehicle being serviced is very varied (commercial vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, and construction equipment), so we opted for a pit 1.50m deep and installed a rail along the entire length of the pit floor, on which is placed a 1 m aluminium anti-slip platform allowing users to gain 20 cm.
