The company, which hires out handling, earthmoving and tooling equipment of all kinds, has decided to secure the pit at its Fos-Sur-Mer workshop.
Kiloutou maintains its fleet of site machinery, which mainly consists of excavators, telescopic handlers, cherry pickers and dumpers, using the following equipment garage pit which allow rapid diagnosis and maintenance while remaining both under and around the vehicle. This is one of the advantages of the garage pit that cannot be taken away. Despite the fact that it is a truly efficient working tool that never breaks down and requires no maintenance or periodic checks, since 1 January 2014, the Caisse d'Allocation Retaite et Santé has required garage pits to be fitted with pit covers to make them safe.
It's true that despite all the good precautions that a workshop manager can take, a garage pit is still an accident-prone area due to the risk of a fall.
Numerous solutions now exist to counter the risk of falls from a standing height, ranging from simple netting that limits injuries to hard covers, often made of aluminium for the longevity and durability of the investment over time, which allow you to work in optimum safety conditions.
Kiloutou opted for the latter equipment. Kiloutou did not want to compromise on the safety of its employees at work. Kiloutou therefore decided to equip its maintenance workshop in Fos-Sur-Mer with one of our pit covers made of extruded aluminium slats with a strength of 1500kg/m2.
As this was an existing pit, we pointed a rail on either side of the pit to create the track for the future cover and installed the cover storage system at the end of the pit, taking only 650mm.
The system is built to last, as it requires no maintenance. All you need to do is grease the castors of the pit protection with Vaseline.
