Securing a garage pit
TRATEL, a pioneering company in the transport of bulk and powdered goods, with its head office in GUERVILLE (78), has chosen XPERTIVE to support them in the implementation of the prevention risks of falling height related to the use of a garage pit.
On the road, you can easily identify the TRATEL company, their yellow semi-trailers and lorries are easily recognisable.
At their BUSSAC FORET site in the south of France Charente Maritime, ne carried out a bespoke study on behalf of TRATEL to adapt to their existing pits.
Their 2 the workshop Tratel Bussac's tracks are 16 m long and do not have sufficiently large rails at the edge of the pit for 'standard' laying. This is a real constraint in our business, because it is impossible to weld our tracks to the pit.
So we came up with a solution consisting of 6mm-thick sheets of sheet metal anchored to the floor, under which our guides are welded.
Thanks to our integrated boiler-making facilities, we can create any type of structure and steel profile, enabling us to adapt to our customers' specific requirements. This freedom allows us to find a long-term solution that gives our customers complete satisfaction.
In the end, the customer chose our patented model, manufactured in our Neuville Sur Saône workshops. It's the aluminium 25T/m2 pneumatically powered version that complies with recommendations R468 & R469 and Machine Directive 2006/42, providing the following benefits:
- Limits the residual risk of falls from height.
- The toughest pit protection on the market
- Allows you to cross over the pit with workshop equipment such as trolleys, mobile columns and pallet trucks without having to go round it.
- Anti-float, extremely stable even when partially closed. It allows mechanics to work on the pit, at the front or rear of the truck in complete safety.
- Installation of the pit cover at slab level. No difference in height between the pit cover and the workshop slab.
- Anti-pinch and anti-crush.
- Very quiet, unlike other models
Despite the technical nature of the installation, it took our two installers just three working days to complete the entire turnkey service, including :
- Laying sheet metal around the pit perimeter
- Guides added to the underside of the sheet metal using plug welds
- Motor installation
- Installation of covers
- Connection to the workshop's existing compressed air network
- Painting, finishing, testing and user training.
You will find the satisfaction of the customer, which testifies to the quality of our installation, as well as photos and execution plans.
Thank you to TRATEL for their confidence. The Xpertive team wishes your colleagues every success in using their secure pit.
