The city of Rennes protects its workshop pits

The municipal workshops of the city of Rennes have begun to equip their mechanical pits and their draining pit with covers to limit the risks of falls on the same level.

Several suppliers now offer various solutions with prices ranging from half for the most basic products and concepts to double for the most attractive, truly ergonomic, and user-friendly equipment.

The workshops of the city of Rennes are tasked with maintaining and servicing the city's fleet of vehicles and are therefore equipped with numerous trucks, heavy goods vehicles, and utility vehicles.

The Rennes workshop safety department, as well as the daily users, have decided to adopt our system of Pneumatic powered pit cover.

After being disappointed with a competitor's product, which was of good quality but did not meet their requirements, particularly in terms of sound emission, they decided to opt for our system. The Xpertive company's pit protection system.

Our pit cover or pit protection is currently the most robust on the market, withstanding 1.5 tonnes per square metre when closed, becoming a seamless extension of the workshop floor. You can easily cross over truck or car inspection pits with a creeper, workshop crane, or mobile lifting column. For mechanics, there's no longer any need to go around the pit; they can cross it safely, even when carrying equipment. Naturally, this results in gains in productivity, comfort, and work quality.

The workshops in the city of Rennes have the unique characteristic of not just maintaining lorries, heavy goods vehicles or light commercial vehicles. They are also responsible for the maintenance of the small street sweepers that clean the gutters on public roads.

So they took the opportunity to reduce the width of their heavy vehicle drainage pit. From now on, they can service both the small sweepers and the larger vehicles, such as domestic waste trucks.

To reduce the width of the pit, we designed a bespoke metal structure with the future cover running track already integrated. Some civil engineering work, particularly on the corbelled section at the top of the pit, had to be carried out.

Today, after more than a year of use, the client is satisfied and trusts us.
